The Bozouls Canyon: a breathtaking geological wonder in Aveyron

Just over 20 minutes from our property, prepare to say a big "wow." Bozouls is not a village like any other: it is a masterpiece of nature. This town was built literally on the edge of a horseshoe-shaped canyon, a natural amphitheater 400 meters in diameter and 100 meters deep, patiently carved out by the Dourdou River.

What to do and see in Bozouls?

The site can be explored both from above, for the thrill of the heights, and from below, for a complete immersion in nature:

  • The cliffside viewpoints: Follow the path along the footbridges and designed viewpoints (such as the town hall square overlook) to admire the village suspended over the abyss.
  • The Sainte-Fauste Church: Firmly anchored on its rocky outcrop in the very heart of the canyon, this 12th-century Romanesque church made of pink limestone seems to defy the laws of gravity.
  • Hiking trails at the bottom of the canyon: Walk down to the heart of the site via the walking paths (accessible to everyone). Once at the bottom, the atmosphere changes completely: you walk along the water, shaded by trees, amidst preserved flora and fauna, crossing charming wooden footbridges.

Why stay with us rather than on the edge of the canyon?

Bozouls is a fantastic stopover that attracts numerous visitors. However, for your nights, taking some height in Campuac offers incomparable benefits for the quality of your stay:

Rural tranquility vs. the bustle of a major tourist site

Bozouls is a very busy area. In high season, the coming and going of cars, tourist groups, and the lively terraces around the abyss create a permanent buzz. At our place, at an altitude of 650 meters, you leave the urban bustle behind to find the true serenity of a preserved environment, where the silence is broken only by birdsong.

A true cool night in our garden vs. the heavy climate of the valley

The Bozouls amphitheater, although shaded at the bottom, is a rocky basin that tends to trap summer heat around its rims and houses. By choosing our gite and guest house, you enjoy the natural coolness of our large tree-filled garden. Our nights are mild and refreshing, ideal for recharging your batteries after climbing the canyon trails.

The freedom of private and free parking

Finding a parking spot in Bozouls near the viewpoints can quickly turn into a headache or force you to park far away with your luggage. By staying with us, you benefit from a large, free, and secure parking space right in front of the establishment. You can come and go as you please, without any logistical stress.

The host's tip: Go explore Bozouls in the early morning to enjoy the cool air in the canyon and a beautiful, low-angled light striking the Sainte-Fauste church. After this lovely walk, come back to relax and read a book in the shade of our garden for the afternoon!
